Experienced technical research and commercialisation leader Guan Tay has been appointed General Manager – Technical Market Solutions at Grains Australia.
Dr Tay brings extensive experience in research, leadership and commercialisation, gained throughout his career across industry, academia and international organisations. He has worked to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into practical, market-focused outcomes and has led multidisciplinary teams as well as large-scale research and innovation programs.
Dr Tay’s professional background includes establishing and leading laboratory and genomics facilities, delivering industry-led innovation projects, and working closely with government, industry and academic stakeholders across Australia, the Middle East and Asia.
He also has extensive experience supervising research programs and contributing to the higher education sector through honorary adjunct appointments at several universities.

Technical Market Solutions is a core function of Grains Australia, providing technical expertise and outcomes designed to address market risks, support market competitiveness and enable customers to confidently use Australian grain.
The team produces science-based evidence to support the differentiation and continued market positioning of Australian grains, while also helping to increase their uptake among domestic and international customers.
In his new role, Dr Tay will bring his experience in research, innovation, commercialisation and stakeholder engagement to Grains Australia’s technical and market-focused activities.
