Silos Spain is continuing its work on a silo project designed for the storage of wood chip biomass in Spain. The project integrates various systems aimed at the storage and controlled discharge of biomass, as well as supporting operational safety.
As part of the project, a flat-bottomed silo is being designed, and a screw extraction system will be used to ensure the controlled removal of material from within the silo. The inner surface of the silo will feature a smooth lining to facilitate material flow.
The system also includes ventilation panels and a temperature monitoring system to track the temperature of the stored biomass. Inspection hatches and access platforms for maintenance, inspection and operational access are also included in the project.
The silo’s loading system will be integrated with a chain conveyor. This structure is designed to enable the simultaneous transport of wood chips to the storage unit and the operation of the silo.
According to information shared by Silos Spain as part of the project, material flow, safety and day-to-day operating conditions are among the key factors to be taken into account in silo design for biomass storage applications.
